4. Whitening of teeth is done with the home bleaching kit.

Custom trays are made for your teeth and whitening material are provided with instructions. Whitening is done at home, 1 hour per day, over 2 to 3 weeks time. The trays fit comfortably for 1 hour as you carry on with your day.

Once in a while, a “touch up” is recommended to keep your smile bright.

5. White Fillings

A composite (tooth colored) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled with a composite filling.

There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You and your dentist can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth. Composite fillings, along with silver amalgam fillings, are the most widely used today. Because composite fillings are tooth colored, they can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth, and are more aesthetically suited for use in front teeth or the more visible areas of the teeth.

6. Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection.  In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated, dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.

Having a root canal done on a tooth is the treatment of choice to save a tooth that otherwise would die and have to be removed.  Many patients believe that removing a tooth that has problems is the solution, but what is not realized is that extracting (pulling) a tooth will ultimately be more costly and cause significant problems for adjacent teeth.

7. Gum Treatment

“Periodontal disease” or simply “gum disease” is the major cause of adult tooth loss. Gum disease is caused by colorless and invisible bacteria in the mouth. Often times, Gum disease has no symptoms in the initial or even advanced cases. That is why it is called the “Silent Disease”. Patients may or may not notice bleeding gums even with gentle brushing of teeth. Gum disease is an inflammatory disease that if left untreated may lead to bone loss, bad breath, bleeding and eventual loss of teeth. It will also affect systemic health risks such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, premature birth and a whole host of other health risks.

8. Children Dentistry

Our practice provides a wide range of dental services for your children. Children’s first check up appointment is recommended within 6 months after the eruption of their first tooth. Our emphasis is on prevention, education and early intervention of dental problems.

We provide check up, prophylaxis, fluoride treatment, oral hygiene instruction, dietary counselling and when necessary white fillings and sealants.

Our goal is to achieve and maintain optimum oral health for your children.

9. Oral Surgery

Wisdom teeth are usually taken out between the ages of 16 and 22 or after orthodontic treatment.
The reason for the extraction is a lack of space in the back of the mouth. Very often wisdom teeth are impacted and cannot erupt normally.

Wisdom teeth are taken out under local anesthesia. An oral sedative is also given for comfort and anxiety control. Resorbable sutures are placed after the extraction. Pain medication, antibiotics and anti swelling medication are given.
